My background as a waiter/ bartender is solely based on self education and learning on the job. Everything I know about attending tables and bartending I learned by reading online articles, watching videos, reading books and learning from colleagues with experience in the industry.
As a waiter I'm required to take orders and attend people that come to the restaurant to eat. Knowing the dishes on the menu and the ingredients of cocktails is very important. As a bartender I have to know about cocktails, knowing which beverage goes well with certain dishes and also keeping stock of the bar.
As an instructor I had to give classes to kids teaching them about science, technology, engineering, arts and mechanics. The tools we were legos that were used to create objects.
Working as a bartender at Blue Sky I had to be able to build cocktails. I also had to be able to prepare hookahs and also have some knowledge of cigars in order to sell them. At the end of the day I had to count the cash register and keep the stock.
